Novahub, a leading Managed Service Provider based in Cambridge, is seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Technician to join our team. As an IT Technician at Novahub, you will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining our clients’ network infrastructure. This will include a specific focus on WiFi technologies, and cloud and datacentre based virtualised platforms. Your expertise will contribute to delivering reliable and efficient IT and network solutions to our diverse client base.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot WiFi networks for clients, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Provide technical support and resolution of network issues, both remotely and on-site.
- Conduct network assessments, perform regular maintenance, and implement upgrades to ensure network stability and scalability.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their specific requirements and offer tailored solutions.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Build and administration of cloud and datacentre based virtualised platforms and Linux based servers.
- Use shell scripting to automate routine tasks, execute commands, and perform system maintenance.
- Document network configurations, changes, and technical procedures accurately.
- Contribute to the development of technical platforms and capability.
- Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to WiFi networks, and cloud and datacentre based virtualised platforms.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an IT Technician or similar role, preferably within a Managed Service Provider environment.
- Strong knowledge of WiFi technologies, including access points, controllers, and security protocols.
- Understanding of cloud and datacentre based virtualised platforms (ideally VMware), build and administration of Linux based servers.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting and analysis tools.
- Basic proficiency in shell scripting (such as Bash on Linux/Unix or PowerShell on Windows) and scripting concepts.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, SSH and other networking protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or CWNA are desirable.
